Moving up to Cubs is exciting, but it’s natural to feel sad about leaving some of your Beaver friends behind. This is a normal reaction to change, and feeling nervous or unsure is okay.
In the weeks leading up to your final night at Beavers, your Beaver leader will talk to your new Cub leader – who you might have already met during joint activities. They’ll work together to make the transition as smooth as possible for you.
Most Beavers move up to Cubs between the ages of 7 ½ and 8 ½, but leaders can be flexible if a Beaver needs more time due to additional needs or exceptional circumstances. They’ll also consider when your friends are moving, aiming to start your new adventure together whenever possible.
To help you get ready, your leader might introduce you to the Moving On Award. Earning this involves spending at least three weeks with a Cub section while continuing your usual Beaver routine. This time will allow you to see what Cubs is like – you’ll get to know your new leaders, make new friends, and join in lots of exciting activities. Keep an eye out, as you might even recognize some faces from when you first started at Beavers!
